Today, children are living on the streets of sub-Saharan Africa's cities due to a multitude of poverty related issues. Street-life can be devastating and extremely traumatic. Street children are at risk of sexual abuse, rape and sexual exploitation. Hunger, violence and disease are ever present. Substance abuse, in particular sniffing glue, is prevalent and used as a way to escape the harsh realities of street life. Street children also get caught up in petty crime in order to survive and sadly children also lose their lives.
It can be easier than you think to change a street child's life and stop their lives feeling worthless. Give a monthly donation and you can support Street Action's partners in Burundi and South Africa.
As a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) based in the USA and UK, we work with our partners to tackle the complex needs of children living on the streets. We raise financial support, public awareness, and promote the work of our partners, building connections and links with our Street Action community of supporters around the world. Through advocacy, research, campaigning and lobbying, we seek to ensure long-term sustainable commitment to our partners and the street children we serve.
$10 a month will help our partner, New Generation (Burundi), re-unite a child with his or her family or place a child in a foster family to provide care and education.
$20 a month will enable our partner, Umthombo Street Children (South Africa), to develop street-based programs that build relationships with children living on the streets and begin the re-integration process back into community or a place of safety.
Wherever you live in the world you can donate monthly to Street Action through our donation webpage at www.justgiving.com/streetaction/donate.
From this page you can make a regular monthly payment for any amount you choose. If this is your first time using justgiving.com the website will lead you through a simple registration process.
Your support enables our partners' work to become sustainable and grow by providing the assurance that a regular level of funding is invested into their work every month.
Using technology and the web, we are looking to create an extended connected network of people around the world, including our partner projects and the street children they work with. Our supporters are a key part of that community and we are developing ways, through the website and email, to keep you informed of the impact your giving is having and enable you to get involved in other ways.
